THE VINEYARDS
La Ermita is Nekeas´most emblematic estate. It is located
at the heart of the valley, next to the shrine of San Juan,
where the soils are extremely poor, with a depth of scarcely
10 cm, so that the roots soon encounter the underlying
rock and must penetrate it to continue growing. Santa Eulosia
is Nekeas´highest vineyard, located on a south-facing
slope where vines have traditionally been grown. The soil is
stony with very little water retention. In both cases, the
grapes are subject to intense water stress, which ultimately
results in extremely small, highly-concentrated grapes.
